Miami Beach
Some dive bars transcend the designation, rising to must-visit status. The Deuce, a neon-wrapped cocktail lounge off South Beach’s Thong Alley, is one of them. From eight a.m. until whenever, it draws in every element possible, including newspapermen and drag queens, socialites and drug addicts, white collar and teal collar, unofficial mayors and bona fide politicos. Call it a subtropical democracy (with two-for-one from morn till balmy eve).

One of my favorite deucers, Glen, sends chilly greetings from Alaska:

Happy Birthday to Kenny. 40 trips around the sun…..I met Kenny when he was the fastest sandwich maker in town around 1992? at La Sandwicherie, and followed him to The News, The Cardozo and to his current home sweet home. Here are a few pics of Kenny around town:

Deucers have been digging around in their closets and have come up with some oldies and goodies. These images come to us from the days before digital cameras….Mostly the pix are from Halloween, so this month we’ll look back into Halloween’s past for some laughs.

First off, we’ve got my three favorite Ashes – Hash Ash, Doc Ash & Femme Ash:

There’s no date on this picture, but I would put it at about 1997ish.

Still great friends with two of the Ashes. Anyone know the whereabouts of Doc Ash?
